Linda Hall Thornton

Linda Lee Hall Thornton died September 25, 2007 at home. She was born in Candler County and reared in Savannah. Linda was educated in the Savannah public schools, having graduated from Herschel V. Jenkins High School. She received her degree as a Registered Nurse from Armstrong State College and was employed by St. Joseph’s Hospital and, most recently, Chatham County Public School System as a nurse. Linda was a member of St. Francis of the Islands Episcopal Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Cole Thornton, her parents, Clifford D. and Mellie Smith Hall, two sisters, Doretha Hayslip and Maude Smith, and brother, Herbert Hall.

Surviving are her son, Charles Bryan Johnson, Jr. of Savannah; brother, Glenn Hall of Savannah; sisters, Jackie Parker Frank of Guyton; Jean Smith Harry of Richmond Hill; Faye Smith Eddie and Patsy Jones Ronald of Tybee Island; Betty Ann Brooks and Janice Bennett Roy of Savannah; sister-in-law, Betty Hall of Thunderbolt; stepdaughter, Holly Thornton of Seattle, WA; many nieces and nephews, who she loved dearly, along with many friends.

Visitation: 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, September 29, 2007 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.

Celebration of Life Service: 6:00 p.m. Saturday, September 29, 2007 in the Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.

Burial will be held at a later date.
