Like many others, I went to college and med school with Jason. We rotated through 3rd year together and without Jason's fun-loving spririt, I never would have made it through- especially that surgery rotation. He was different- he would pin you down, make plans, and follow through with them- there were no empty promises. He was selfless and always looked out for others first and himself last- a characteristic that made him such a great person but may have been his Achilles’ heel. As medical school roommates, we shared stress, joys, a garden, a quasi-bachelor pad, hunting trips, fishing tales, and infinite good times. After parting ways for residency, we came back to Savannah at the same time. We shared several patients, and there was not a single one that didn’t tell me how well Jason listened to them and helped them with their problems.
