It was only today that I learned that Gene Reece had passed away. Gene was one of my best friends during our schooldays in Hardeeville. Our mutual passions were collecting/trading baseball cards and shooting marbles. Although that was fully 50 years ago, I still vividly recall those wonderful days. I even remember his Luis Aparicio model baseball glove. Sadly, I don't believe I ever saw Gene again after he left Hardeeville, but I will forever treasure our friendship of long ago. May you rest in peace, good buddy!

I knew Gene by acqaintence only. I worked for him at Braddy Electric 30 years ago and he led me into a lifelong career in electrical work I've never regretted. He had many years left but I'm sure he's happiest now. God love him.

My heart is filled with sadness today. You have been in my thoughts and prayers ever since I heard of Gene's tragic incident. Gene and I dated in high school and he was always such a sweet, positive, and funny person. We had so many good times together. We had the opportunity a couple of years ago to catch up on our lives over the past 40+ years through email. He was still the same person, he hadn't changed a bit. You were blessed to have him as a father, grandfather, and friend. Hope you will soon find peace and comfort. God bless. Margaret Zealy SVA Class of '63

Our prayers have been going out to you for the last seven weeks. Gene was such a dear, sweet, gentle man. It was our pleasure to get to know him the last few years. We enjoyed the few days we got to spend with him while he was visiting Marian's family and the wonderful November weekend we spent in Savannah and got to experience true Southern Hospitality.Heaven has received an angel. Fondly, Kevin and Lynne Grady
