Savannah – Michael Joseph Shoemaker, 58, died February 29, 2008. Born in Savannah, he is the son of Stella Cronk Shoemaker and the late Louis Charles Shoemaker. He was a member of the Montgomery Presbyterian Church. Michael was preceded in death by his loving wife, Beverly Nell White Shoemaker, a daughter, Rebecca Shoemaker, and a younger brother, Robert L. Shoemaker. Michael and Beverly were well known for opening their doors to anyone in need in their community.
Surviving are his son, Joseph M. Shoemaker; mother, Stella Cronk Shoemaker; brothers, Richard C. Shoemaker, Carl F. Shoemaker, and Gary L. Shoemaker; sisters, Joan S. Aliffi and Ann S. Boxxe; sister-in-love, Debbie Rice-Reagan; brothers-in-law, Raymond White, Jr. , Ronald White, and Roland T. White; sister-in-law, Barbara J. Hickey, and many nieces and nephews.
Michael was a graduate of Jenkins High School and served in the U.S. Army in Germany. He worked until his retirement as a mail handler for the U.S. Post Office.
Visitation: 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2008 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel followed by a Christian Wake Service at 4:30 p.m.
Funeral: 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2008 at Montgomery Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Mark Giuliano, officiating.
Burial: Forest Lawn Memory Gardens
Remembrances: Muscular Dystrophy Association or Montgomery Presbyterian Church.

Uncle Mikie, I am so sorry to see you go but I am so happy to know you are with Aunt Bev and Becky in Heaven and it comforts me to know that you are not in anymore pain. You know you were like a second dad to me.. I will always cherish the memories that we made and hold them near to my heart! I love you so much and I am not going to say goodbye, Im going to say.. I'll see you later and get that old green pickup truck ready for me!!
