Clinton R. "Bobby" Saxon, Command Sargeant Major, U.S. Army Retired, passed away Wednesday, March 05, 2008.

He was born October 4, 1928 in Pineora, GA. Bobby entered the Army prior to his 16th birthday. He volunteered for Airborne Training. In Europe, he served with the 82nd and 17th Airborne Divisions. The 4th Armored Division and with the U.S. Constabulary Forces. During his assignments with these units, he served as a Combat Medic. C.S.M. Saxon served a total of 37 years in the active and reserve forces. His awards include Master Parachute Badge, Combat Medical Badge, Presidential Citation, Meritorious Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal with Clasp, European Theater of Operations with Battle Star, U.S. Army Reserve Medal with Hour Glass and several other medals, badges and citations.

Mr. Saxon also retired from Stevens Shipping Co. as director of Maintenance. Mr. Saxon was Past Master of Ancient Landmark Masonic Lodge #231, a member of the Scottish Rite Consistory, Alee Shriners, Past President of the Oriental Band and member of Knights of Mecca. He was a life member of the U.S. Constabulary Assoc., the Command Sargeant Major Assoc. and the Sargeant Majors, Chief Master Sargeants and Master Chiefs Assoc. Bobby was Past Exalted Ruler of Savannah Elk's Lodge where he also served as Chairman of the Trustees. He was also a member of American Legion Post #135 and The Exchange Club of Savannah. He enjoyed playing golf with the Elk's Blitz.

Mr. Saxon was preceded in death by his mother and father, Auzy Carlton and Josephine Taylor Saxon and his former wife, Hanka Teresa Saxon.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kay McGlohon Saxon; two sons, Keith Saxon and wife Kim, Robert Saxon and wife Cindy; daughter, Brandi O'Rand and husband Brett; two half brothers; three half sisters; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at White Bluff Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Eric Beene, Pastor of the White Bluff Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens with graveside Masonic Rites and full military honors.

Active pallbearers will be Ray Saxon, Richard Saxon, Larry Saxon, Bill Saxon, Billy Saxon and Mike Tebeau.

Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Alee Oriental Band and members of the Savannah Elk's Lodge #183.
