SAVANNAH – Clema Sue Rushing Cottle, age 89, died Saturday, March 8, 2008, at Wisteria Gardens in Pooler. A native of Bulloch County, she was a daughter of the late John Norman and Janie DeLoach Rushing.
A longtime resident of Savannah, she was a home maker, crafter and an avid traveler. She loved her family foremost, and she loved knitting and quilting, having been a lifetime member of the Calico Stitchers. She retired in 1980 from Sears Roebuck & Co. Mrs. Cottle was a member of Bull Street Baptist Church and was a member and Past High Priestess of the Ladies Oriental Shrine.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cottle was preceded in death by her husband, Henry B. Cottle, Sr., and her siblings, Geraldine Barbee, Emma Redmann and John Rushing, Jr.
Surviving are her sons and their wives, Henry B. Cottle, Jr. and Connie Cottle of Montrose, GA, John D. Cottle and Jane Cottle of Williamsburg, VA, and Philip D. Cottle and Jo Ann Cottle of Bloomingdale; Grandchildren, Trey, Morgan, Elizabeth, Holly, Alice, John, Jr., and Melissa; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Amelia, Samuel, Zachary, Luke, and Khiya; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens with Rev. Steve McCoy officiating.
Remembrances may be made to the Alzhiemers Association of Savannah, 3015 Bull St., Savannah, GA 31405.
The family would like to extend special thanks and appreciation to Carol Elkins and her staff at Wisteria Gardens for the love and care they extended to Mrs. Cottle while in their care.
