Daniel Russell Bruno

Daniel Russell Bruno, affectionately known to his family as BB, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, April 12, 2008. He passed away in Savannah Georgia where he lived for many years.
Dan as the youngest child born to Vincent and Angela Bruno on March 4, 1927 in Pensacola, Florida. He was educated in the catholic school system and was a graduate of Catholic High School, Pensacola.
He joined the Navy in 1944 and served in the Pacific Theater during WWII on the USS Gary DE326. After discharge from the Navy, Dan attended College at the University of Florida and graduated from Tulane University New Orleans in architecture. Dan served as an architect for the Army Corp of Engineers in Savannah Georgia for 20 years.
Dan was a devout Catholic, who studied to be a monk with the Alexia Brothers in Tennessee and with the Trappist order in Conyers Georgia for a few years. At a later time he served as a missionary architect in Africa where he designed and built churches, schools and convents. He also designed a church and rectory for the Pensacola Catholic Diocese.
Dan's parents and brother, Judge Theo Bruno and sister, Claire Stead, predeceased him.
Surviving are his sister, Angela Fishburn, and brother, Dr. Paul Bruno both of Pensacola, Florida and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass is planned in Savannah, Georgia at his parish, Blessed Sacrament Church of Savannah at 11 a.m. on May 30, 2008.
Interment will be in the NAS Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida at a graveside service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2008.
The family wishes to express sincere thanks to Cecilia Camp, a Candler hospital social worker, Father Jeremiah McCarthy, both of Savannah Georgia, who greatly assisted Daniel in his final days and helped our family through this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Covenant Hospice of Pensacola, 5041 N. 12th Avenue, Pensacola, Florida 32504.
