Ruby Catherine Hunt Harris
July 20, 1938 - April 21, 2008
Ruby Catherine Smith Hunt Harris, 68, was called home Monday, April 21, 2008. She was born July 20, 1939 in Horry County, South Carolina and lived most of her life in Savannah. She was of the Baptist faith. She celebrated life and enjoyed cooking and being with her family. She was a mom to many neighborhood children who loved her as their own mother.
She was the daughter of Thurman and Eva Smith of Hemingway, South Carolina who preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by two brothers, Roscoe Smith and Charlie Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Alton A. Harris, three daughters, Sandra H. Cantey, Susan Marie Hunt, Stephanie Cindy H. Bryant and her husband, Jay and one son, Steven L. Hunt and her adopted son, Mark Welch. She is also survived by eleven sisters and brothers, Janet Thompson, Betty Powell, Thurman Smith, Jr., Suzie Devereaux, Ginger Skinner, Barbara Chandler, Cheri Dial, Peggy Mobley, Connie Weaver, Eloise Brogdon and Richard Smith. Eight grandchildren, Rachel, Christopher, Brandie, Steven, Jr, Keri, Kaleb, and Cayman Hunt, and Jason Bryant and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 24, 2008 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Burial will be in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park.
To everyone, You will all never know how much I always enjoyed growing up around all of you. Aunt Ruby was always my favorite Aunt and Uncle Alton was my fav. Uncle...ever!I wish things had been different and we had stayed in touch. I am deeply sadden at her passing and pnly wish that I had found out sooner. My love to all.
