William Jones Smith

Savannah-William Jones Smith, 58, died May 3, 2008 at Candler Hospital.
"Bill" was born the son of Jesse Ruth Smith and the late Charles Dewitt Smith, Sr. on July 23, 1949. He was a Christian. He graduated from Savannah High School and served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. After returning home he joined the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local #474. He retired in July 2004. He will be missed by all that loved and knew him and will always be remembered for his love of the outdoors and all of the simple things in life.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Hudson Smith, of 35 years; three daughters: Molly Crumpton and her husband Ray, Sarah Smith and Billie Elizabeth Smith; granddaughters: Hannah and Haley Pewett; grandson, Jacob Jones Corbin; brother, Charles Dewitt Smith, Jr. and his wife Donna; sister, Anne Charlene Smith and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 5, 2008 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel with The Reverend Richard Nelson officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the National Wildlife Turkey Federation, P.O. Box 530, Edgefield, SC 29824.
