CAROLYN C. SMITH

Carolyn C. Smith 89, devoted Wife, Mother and Grandmother died Friday, June 20, 2008 at Candler Hospital. Mrs. Smith was a native and longtime resident of Savannah. Mrs. Smith was a member of Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church for over 70 years. She was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class, the Busy Bees and the United Methodist Women at Asbury. Mrs. Smith was employed by the Chatham County Health Department and retired as executive secretary to the Health Officer in 1984 after 20 years of service. Carolyn enjoyed her church, home, family and loved to work in her garden. She also enjoyed traveling and loved dancing with her husband at Savannah Beach.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Augustus Cragin, her husband of 45 years, Edgar W. Smith Sr., her sisters, Pauline C. Grayson, Evelyn C. Mullins and Frances C. Sikes.

Surviving are, her son, Edgar W. Smith Jr. her grandson, Edgar W. Smith III and her very dear daughter-in-law, Anne K. Smith all of Savannah. Also surviving are nephews, Herbert W. Berry Jr. of Savannah, Roy L. Mullins of Statesboro and Robert C. Sikes of Bluffton, S.C. and some very dear cousins and friends.

Visitation will be Monday, June 23, 2008 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel.

Funeral Services will be Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel with the Reverend Billy Hester officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
