Joshua R. Sims, 84, died Friday, June 27, 2008 in Savannah.

Mr. Sims was born in Bulloch County, GA on October 18, 1923, the son of the late Joshua H. and Nettie M. Sims. Joshua was a 28 year veteran of the Savannah Police Department, retiring as Corporal. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Police and Faith Primitive Baptist Church.

Mr. Sims was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Inez H. Sims. He is survived by his sons, Jack Sims, Jerry Sims and wife Laura Lee and Joey Sims, all of Savannah; daughter, Gloria Sims Patrick and husband Richard of Levy, SC; sister, Nettie Sims Glisson of Blitchton; grandchildren, Melody Clendenen of Bluffton, SC, Shawn Patrick of Charleston, SC, Caleb and Annabelle Sims, both of Savannah; great-grandchildren, Kelsey Grace and Kailey Rae Clendenen.

Graveside Funeral Service: 1:00 PM Monday at Lanes Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery near Brooklet, GA.
