SAVANNAH- Frances Elizabeth Harvey Harkins, age 88, died peacefully at Hospice House on Wednesday, July 2, 2008.
Mrs. Harkins was born November 25, 1919 in Pembroke, Georgia to Brooks William and Elizabeth Lanier Harvey. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Harkins is predeceased by the love of her life, her husband of seventy-one years, Louis Baker Harkins, Sr.; her sisters, Ruth Lenore Harvey and Effie Lou Grice; and her brothers, Cecil Robert, Harold Debinion, and Brooks Marvin Harvey.
Mrs. Harkins was a member of Ardsley Park Baptist Church, serving faithfully for many years as a Sunday School leader for both children and adult classes. The church membership elected Mrs. Harkins "Mother of the Year" in 2000 for her devotion to God and family. Mrs. Harkins worked for a number of years as a telephone operator at St. Joseph's Hospital. Her real loves were her Lord, her family and home, and the creation of beautiful needlework.
Mrs. Harkins leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Susan Brooks Howell Finn; sons, Louis Baker Harkins Madeleine and Frank Harkins; sister, Jean Tyler Winslow; grandchildren, James Howell, Jessica Howell, Celeste Barton Jeff, Louis Harkins III, and Douglas Harkins; one great-grandchild, Cameron Arthur Barton; and nieces and nephews, JoAnn Lanier, Joyce Dubois, Judy Tyler, Gloria Moye, Tuleda Harvey, and Neal Harvey.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 5, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
A graveside funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
The family suggests that remembrances be made to Ardsley Park Baptist Church General Fund, 1 East 55th St., Savannah, GA 31405.

Our Aunt Jo Ann Lanier advised us of the passing of Uncle Louis awhile back and now Aunt Francis recently. I would like to extend my family's Neil, Sharon, Holly, Kyle and Kayla deepest condolences to Frankie, Louis, Susan, and all our surving relatives. It's been a very long time since we have seen each other and our families do not keep in very good touch but I do continually remember all of you in my prayers. Neil Harvey & family
