SAVANNAH, GA – Norman Brassler, age 96, died Monday, July 14, 2008, at Hospice House in Savannah, GA. He was a native of Brooklyn, NY.

After spending several years in private schools in Germany and Switzerland, he graduated from Irving School in Tarrytown, NY before entering Princeton University. He graduated in 1933 and was elected a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

After graduation he joined the Chemical Bank in New York and received an M.B.A. from New York University in 1939. He spent most of his business career with New Jersey Bank and Trust in Patterson, NJ and became Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board. He served on the Board of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and on the Advisory Committee of the Comptroller of the Currency.

He was an ardent philatelist and had a deep love of opera and classical music. He was a former member of Vero Beach Country Club, Upper Montclair Country Club, Arcola Country Club, Glen Ridge Country Club and the Mid Ocean Club of Bermuda. He resided at Buck Hill Falls, PA and Vero Beach, FL, during his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Carolyn. He is survived by his son, Morgan Brassler of Hilton Head Island, SC, his daughter, Carolyn Osmun of Savannah, six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
