Alton "Bubba" Author Harris, 61, was called home on Friday, July 25, 2008.
Mr. Harris was born on August 30, 1946 in Americus, GA, the son of the late Lee and Martha Harris. Alton served his country in the United States Army. He was of Baptist faith and an avid fisherman.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of thirty-one years, Ruby C. Hunt Harris and brothers, Robert and David Harris. He is survived by his daughters, Sandra H. Cantey, Susan Marie Hunt and Stephanie "Cindy" H. Bryant and her husband Jay; son, Steven L. Hunt and adopted son, Mark Welch; sisters, Dorothy Proper and husband Ken, Yvonne Chapman and husband Donnie and Michelle Frost and husband Butch; grandchildren, Rachel, Chris, Brandie, Little Steven, Keri, Kaleb and Cayman Hunt and Jason Bryant; three great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Funeral Service: 10:00 AM Monday at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park with military honors.
I am so sorry for the losses you all have had to endure. I thought of everyone often and am sorry that I hadn't heard of their passings sooner. My deepest sympathy to the entire family.
