Bruce Carlton Garner
August 21, 1914 - July 27, 2008
Bruce C. Garner, 93, died peacefully on Sunday, July 27, 2008. He had been in hospice care since June 2008. He was born in Kansas City to Carl and Dorothy Garner and raised in Branson, Missouri. Following his rural depression era teen years, he graduated from the School of the Ozarks and took employment in material support first with Caterpillar Tractor. He then worked for Stone and Webster spending the war years in Oak Ridge, Tennessee and ultimately retired from Dow Chemical after 17 years in their Plaquemine, Louisiana plant.
For the past years, Bruce and his wife, Eleice have been residents of Rivers Edge and parishioners of St. Andrews Reformed Episcopal Church.
His wife, Ann Catherine Garner, the mother of his four sons, wife, Melba Adkins Garner, brother, Don Garner and daughter-in-law, Mrs. Kathy Garner preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, Eleice Blackwell Garner of Savannah, GA; four sons and their families; Chris and Mary Garner of Loudon, TN; Tim and Linda Garner of Savannah, GA; Tony and Linda Garner of Mandeville, LA; Nick Garner of Baton Rouge, LA; and his nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at St. Andrews Reformed Episcopal Church in Savannah, Wednesday, July 30th at 11:00 a.m. There will be a private burial of ashes in Branson, MO at a later date.
