Warren Cass Rogers

SAVANNAH-- Warren Cass Rogers, 88, died Monday, August 11, 2008 at St. Joseph's/Candler Hospital. Warren, a resident of Savannah since 1959, was a retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel. Hunter Air Force Base was the last of many assigned posts during his 20 year service history. After his retirement in 1961, Warren owned an insurance company, "R & R Insurance", in partnership with a friend, the late Col. William Rockwell. At that time, he also returned to college to complete his degree. In 1968, he received his B.A. from Armstrong State College, and went on to hold various positions in the Savannah Chatham Public School System, including Reading Specialist at Eli Whitney Elementary School and Assistant Librarian and Golf Coach at Windsor Forest High School.
Warren was an avid camper and golfer, a Boy Scout Troop Leader, and an active member of St. George's Episcopal Church for many years.
Warren was born September 27, 1919 in Chicago, II and was married for 57 years to Betty Yule Rogers of Kenosha, WI, until her death in 2000. In 2006, he co-authored and published a book with his daughter, Barbara. "The Door to a Man's Heart" is the true story of how he and his first wife Betty met in 1934 when they were teenagers camping in Door County, Wisconsin with their parents, and how their commitment to each other and to camping in Door County lasted for over sixty years.
Warren remarried in 2003, and is survived by his wife, Naomi Adler Rogers of Savannah. He is also survived by three children, son Lynn Charles Rogers, son Charles Scott Rogers, Charles' wife, Gretchen, daughter Barbara Foley and her husband Michael. He is also survived by five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He is preceded in death his first wife, Betty and also by a daughter, Wendy Walk and a daughter-in-law, Susan Rogers.
Memorial Service: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 16, 2008 at St. George's Episcopal Church, 15 Willow Rd.
