Robert Henry "Bob" Donahue, Sr., 79, died Wednesday, August 20, 2008 in Savannah.

Mr. Donahue was born in Ogdensburg, NY on September 9, 1928, the son of the late John and Elizabeth Donahue. Bob was an Electrical Engineer with the Department of Defense for forty-six years. His service to the Department of Defense brought him to Savannah in 1949. He was a twenty year veteran of the United States Air Force. In addition to his tenure in the Air Force he spent over four years in Civil Service at Hunter Army Air Force Base and over twenty years at the Naval Space Surveillance Station at Fort Stewart. Bob was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Donahue was preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty-six years, Virginia Sue Dickerson Donahue. He is survived by his daughter, Joyce McAfee and husband Bill of Flowery Branch, GA and their children, Susan Stripling and David McAfee; son, Robert H. Donahue, Jr. and wife Deanie of Savannah and their children, Stephen and Bryan Donahue; son, Kenneth B. Donahue and wife Susan L. Aenchbacher of Lilburn, GA and their children, Michael and Rachel Donahue; great-grandchildren, Emma and Olivia Stripling; sister, Marion Jean Rizzolo of Penfield, NY and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 6:00-8:00 PM Monday, August 25, 2008 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

Funeral Service: 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens with full military honors.

Although Mr. Donahue didn't live at Palmetto Inn long, he certainly found a place in our hearts. We enjoyed his sense of humor and wit. Our prayers are with the family during this difficult time.
