Celebrating the life of
James Marvin Aleshire
November 20, 1934 - September 07, 2008
Savannah- James "Jim" Marvin Aleshire died Sunday, September 7th, 2008 after battling cancer for a year.
He is survived by a small but close knit family: Jean, his wife of 45 years; their two daughters and sons-in-law, Melanie and Billy Elmore, and Tracie and CW4 Lance Modrell; their son, Jack Aleshire; and their grandchildren: Sean and Erica Compton, Haleigh Elmore, Tarah and Cody Modrell, Justin and Chelsea Aleshire. Extended family includes Joan Guyer, Pam Buttimer and Andrea Padgett.
Jim graduated from Missouri University and served in the United States Army. He played 4 years of football in high school, college and the Army respectively.
He relished the time he spent with his grandchildren, sharing his life stories and teaching them everything from making an actual tomahawk to sweeping to making whistles out of sticks. He always had a project and was more than willing to share his wisdom with the nearest person.
Jim was a fiercely independent individual with a will of steel and a body to match. He will be remembered with great love and many fond memories.
Visitation will be from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 10th, with a memorial service to begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Islands Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors.
Donations in Jim's memory may be sent to Benedictine Military School Scholarship Fund, 6502 Seawright Dr., Savannah, GA 31406.
