Marguerite B. Bousquet, 83, died Monday, October 13, 2008 in Hilton Head Island, SC.
Mrs. Bousquet was born on January 7, 1925 in Kinshasa, Belgian Congo, the daughter of the late James D. Black and Melanie Gossoin Black. At the age of four she relocated to Liege Belgium where she lived with her grandparents until moving to the United States in 1936 where she lived with her aunt and uncle, Joseph and Florence Black. Marguerite was a graduate of Laurel School in Cleveland, OH and received her formal education at Wellesley College in Wellesley, MA where she graduated Cum Laude. In 1947, she was married to Franklyn P. Bousquet, Jr. and they made their home in New York. While in New York she worked as a Lab Assistant to a Spanish doctor at the Rockefeller Institute. She translated the notes of Dr. Rafael Lorente de No, who was a Nobel Prize recipient for works as a neurophysiologist into English and French. Marguerite was a member of the Junior League and a former Trustee of Savannah Country Day.
Mrs. Bousquet is survived by her husband of 61 years, Dr. Franklyn P. Bousquet, Jr.; sons, Dr. Franklyn P. Bousquet, III and wife Katherine of Savannah, James Halsey Bousquet and wife Cecelia of Hilton Head Island, SC and Michael Pratt Bousquet of Savannah; daughter, Marguerite Williamson and husband Robert of Hilton Head Island, SC; grandchildren, Paul and Daniel Bousquet, Franklyn Bakala, Marguerite Williamson and Halsey Williamson.
A memorial visitation will be held Thursday, October 16, 2008 from 2:00-4:00 PM at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice Care of America, 21 Professional Village Circle, Beaufort, SC 29907-1574.
