Anna Bass Thomas, widow of Wallace H. Thomas, died October 29, 2008 at Azalealand Nursing Home in Savannah, GA.
Anna was born in Pelzer, SC, graduated from Lander College and taught school in Pickens, Greenville, and Easley, SC. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Sybil Vann and Gleaners Sunday School Classes, Greenville, SC for most of her adult life and a member of First Baptist Church, Easley from 1965-88. She was active in civic organizations including The Woman's Club, where she served as president 1985-1987, was a founding member of the Clarice Wilson Garden Club, and through the years was a active in other community organizations. Gifted in flower arranging, she became a Nationally Accredited Flower Show Judge. She was a wonderful cook, enjoyed playing bridge, traveling and being with her family, and worked crossword puzzles into her nineties.
She is survived by her daughter, Claudia Thomas of Savannah, a sister, Juel B. Gafford, of Sumter, SC, in-laws Ruby Richbourg, Greensboro, NC and McDuffy and Jo Putnam, Roebuck, SC. and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at home from six to eight on Thursday, October 30. Graveside services will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Greenville, SC on Friday October 31 at 12:30 PM.
