Dewey Franklin DeLettre, Jr.
SAVANNAH - Dewey Franklin DeLettre, Jr., age 81, peacefully left us on Saturday, November 1, 2008, to live with his Lord and Savior in Heaven. The native and lifelong resident of Savannah was a graduate of Armstrong Junior College and the University of Georgia. He was a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II and retired in 1992 after thirty-five years of service to American Cyanamid and Kemira. Mr. DeLettre was a member of Landrum Lodge # 48, F&AM and a member of Calvary Baptist Temple. He was very proud of his faith, family, and country. He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-four years, Natalie Hymes DeLettre.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Randy Ray of Fletcher, NC; three sons and daughters-in-law, Dewey and Kathryn DeLettre and Daniel and Angela DeLettre, both of Savannah, and David and Gail DeLettre of Keller, TX; a sister and brother-in-law, Lorraine and Eugene Beery of Savannah; nine grandchildren, Joey Ray and his wife Kyndra, Cindy Ray Cope and her husband, Stephen, Ryan DeLettre and his wife Jennifer, Blake and Briana Olsen, Taylor DeLettre, Lindsey and Brittany DeLettre and Grant DeLettre; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and countless friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 7, 2008, at 11:00 am in the Wilder Chapel at Calvary in Savannah.
Interment will follow in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park.
