James V. Hall, Jr.

-Savannah- Mr. James V. Hall, Jr., 75, died peacefully at his home on November 1st, All Saints Day, surrounded by members of his loving family.

He was born July 22, 1933, in Portsmouth, Virginia, the only child of his mother, Alice Bennett Hall, who died when James was an infant. He was raised by his loving grandmother, Sallie Pat Bennett, now deceased, and his Aunt Mary Walker, currently residing in Atlanta. His stepmother, Ellen C. Russell, now deceased, was also there for him in his childhood.

Mr. Hall was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Saddler Hall, who died in 1986. He is survived by his current wife of 21 years, Margaret M. Hall of Savannah; his two daughters, Lynette Shearhouse and husband John and Karen Hall of Savannah. Survivors also include three step-children, Sherrie and Austin Gray, Willogene and Donald Camp, Phillip and Dru Fender; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild and his half-brother, Billy Hall of Portsmouth, Virginia.

Mr. Hall was a veteran of the United States Air Force and worked as a Comptroller for Diamond Industries in Freeport, the Bahamas, until 1979 when he and his late wife and daughters moved to Savannah. He became a member of the Alee Temple and Tybee Lite Shrine Club in the 1980's and faithfully served as treasurer and events coordinator. In addition, he was an honored member of the Jesters Society. Mr. Hall was also a devoted and active member of All Saints Episcopal Church on Tybee Island where he was instrumental in assisting the completion of the installation of the church building's stained glass windows.

Visitation: 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.

Memorial Service: 11:00 AM Wednesday at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.

The family would appreciate flowers or donations made to either All Saints Episcopal Church, Tybee Island, Georgia or to the American Brain Tumor Association, 2720 River Road, Del Plains, Illinois, 60018, in memory of James V. Hall.
