Myrtice C. Clifton

Myrtice C. Clifton, 90, died Sunday, November 9, 2008 at her home in Savannah.

Mrs. Clifton was born in Effingham County on April 11, 1918, the daughter of the late Meldrim Clark and Hattie G. Exley. She grew up in Rincon and came to Savannah at an early age where she began working in retail. Myrtice retired from Sears Roebuck and Co. where she worked for over thirty years. After her retirement she worked for Punch and Judy in Savannah where she worked for almost twenty years. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Clifton was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Vernon Hugh Clifton and son, Jeffrey Hugh Clifton. She is survived by her daughters, Sherron Kaye Clifton and Paulette Little, both of Savannah; son, Eric Clifton and wife Cindy of Savannah; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren and one great great grandchild expected in mid-2009; sisters, Pauline and Olivia Weitman and brother, Valdee Exley, all of Effingham County and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 5:00-7:00 PM Tuesday at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

Funeral Service: 1:00 PM Wednesday at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel with burial following at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
