Richmond Hill - Charles Russell Jones, 69, was lifted to Heaven and into the arms of God on January 5, 2009 surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Jones was born on February 21, 1939 in Savannah, GA and attended the Chatham County public schools, graduating from Commercial High School. He served in the United States Navy. Russell retired from Johns-Manville and Owens Corning after 41 years of service. He loved the outdoors and following his retirement enjoyed fishing, hunting and boating with his friends. He was loved by everyone who knew him for his sense of humor, unique personality and gift of gab. He never met a stranger, child or animal he couldn't charm. He was a member of St. Elizabeth's of Hungary Episcopal Church.

Mr. Jones was predeceased by his parents, Millard and Matilda Jones; brothers, Sidney Jones and Steven Jones and sister, Nina Copeland. Charles was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will always live on in the memories of his loving wife of fifty years, Judie; daughters and sons-in-law, Traci and Bubba Daiss, Angela and Frank Lamson, Kristen and Bubba Johnson; grandchildren, Christopher Arnold, Calli Arnold and Jason Lamson who were the lights of his life; mother-in-law, Pauline Arp; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Ervin Floyd; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carole and Don Venn; several nieces and nephews and more good friends than most men meet in a lifetime.

The family will receive friends Friday, January 9th from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 10th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth's of Hungary Episcopal Church in Richmond Hill, GA.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Elizabeth's of Hungary Episcopal Church, 16491 Highway 144, Richmond Hill, GA 31324.

I'll never forget my years as 'Michael P-Coltrain' and all the fun and humor he brought. Our prayers are with all of you. I read the obituary and it is absolutely true - he was definitely a charmer, and full of great humor. I know Mr Russell will be proud of his family carrying on his good name by inheriting his great personality and spreading happiness wherever you go.
