William Ernest Trees
February 14, 1921 - January 14, 2009
Savannah - William Ernest Trees, 87, died January 14, 2009 at his residence under the care of Hospice Savannah, Inc. He was born in Enhaut, Pennsylvania, son of the late William George Trees and Theresa Bolbecker Trees. Mr. Trees received his Chemical Engineering degree from Villa Nova University. He was retired as a Chemical Engineer from American Cyanamid after 42 years of service. He served as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II as a Navigator on B-17's. and was a prisoner of war for fourteen months. He was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where he served on the school board and a member of the parish council. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 5588 and a member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick.
Surviving are his wife, Cecilia Kituskie Trees of Savannah; children, Mary Frances Trees Dimmick and her husband, Walter F. Dimmick of Savannah; Anne Trees of Savannah; William G. "Bill" Trees and his wife, Deborah Trees of Greensboro, NC; Susan Trees Beck and her husband, Timothy Beck of Atlanta, GA; Helen Trees Bass and her husband, Christopher Bass of Savannah; sister, Helen Stepp of Harrisburg, PA; grandchildren, Stephen and Katie Dimmick; Shannon and Christopher Trees; Adam and Ryan Beck; Jacob and Molly Bass.
Visitation: 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 16, 2009 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with a Vigil Service at 6:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 17, 2009 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with The Reverend Jeremiah McCarthy, Celebrant.
Burial: Catholic Cemetery.
