Jane Jones Hamilton, 90, died Wednesday, January 14, 2009 in Savannah.

Mrs. Hamilton was born on August 11, 1918 in Folkston, GA the daughter of the late William J. and Hilda Mattox Jones. She lived in Vidalia until 2007 when she moved to Savannah to be closer to her family. Jane was a Social Worker from 1954-1964 for Toombs County Family Services, later becoming the Executive Director of the Housing Authority of the City of Vidalia. She was active in the Georgia and Southeastern Housing Association and served as the first woman President of the Georgia Association of Housing and Development Authorities for the 1977-1978 term.

Mrs. Hamilton won first place in the children's division of the national sewing contest for a dress she made for her daughter. She also loved to bake cakes for her family and friends. Jane was active in the Pilot Club of Vidalia and was a member of Vidalia United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Hamilton was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas R. Hudson and brother, Dudley Jones. She is survived by her son, William T. Hudson and wife LuAnn Roberts of Tybee Island, GA; daughter, Linda Hudson Neuhaus of Fairfax, VA and Savannah, GA; grandchildren, Leigh Hudson Conner, Todd Hudson and Wesley Hudson, all of Savannah and three great grandchildren.
