Celebrating the life of

Charles A. Tuggle, Jr.

December 10, 1935 - January 17, 2009

Charles A. Tuggle, Jr.

Charles A. Tuggle, Jr.

Charles A. Tuggle, Jr., 73, died Saturday evening, January 17, 2009, at Memorial Health University Medical Center, in the presence of his family, after a brave but brief struggle to overcome injuries sustained in a motor vehicle collision one week before and only then after a valiant effort to save him by doctors, nurses and staff at Memorial.

Charles made Savannah his home in 1965, and soon established himself in the community as an extraordinarily brilliant and gifted psychotherapist. He studied under Bob and Mary Goulding, internationally recognized teaching therapists of the International Transactional Analysis Association, in Pleasanton, California. He rose to the level of Teaching Member, and later spread his knowledge and masterful techniques to other professionals throughout the Coastal Empire. His Moon River Group seminars became locally famous, attracted gifted psychotherapists, who in turn continued to spread Charles' knowledge and techniques to other professionals.

Charles' first and truest passion though was his music. He was a gifted musician, having accomplished the art of the piano, drums, and most of all, the trumpet. He freely shared his musical talents with the community by performing with jazz combos and bands in the downtown squares, and establishments throughout the community. If you were really lucky, though, you might discover him crooning away some of Frank Sinatra's famous tunes.

He is survived by his son, Charles Andrew Tuggle, III, his daughters; Angela Tuggle Fountain, Debbie Tuggle Camp and Denise Tuggle Stribling, 14 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and his ex-spouse Therese Tuggle Hafey.

The visitation will be held at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel today from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m. The interment will be in Spartanburg, SC.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the entire staff at Trauma ICU at Memorial for the compassion and display of medical expertise during Charles' brief stay.

GUEST BOOK

I waited a long time to let this be known, but it's long over due. I am Charles oldest daughter, born in 1954. We met, talked an the phone and all his other children know about me. I went to his funeral and was treated with such disrespect. I never wanted anything from any family members, just to let them know I am their sister. So, you can't hurt my feelings by saying anything. I have all the proof I need. Charles, rest in peace. And the rest can live with it! Kitty
