George Edward Ciucevich
June 17, 1921 - January 27, 2009
Savannah- George Edward Ciucevich, 87, died peacefully January 27, 2009, at Azalealand Nursing Home, under the care of Hospice Savannah.
He was born June 17, 1921, in Savannah, GA, to parents Edward J. and Louise Melcher Ciucevich. He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers, John, Gilbert, Walter and William Ciucevich, and a sister Louise C. Sullivan. He attended Benedictine Military School and was a World War II Veteran, having served honorably with the 118th Field Artillery in Europe. He retired from the Savannah Morning News as Business Manager after 20 years. He was Past President of the First Volunteer Regiment of Georgia, Past Commander of American Legion Post 184, a Member of the Knights of Columbus #5588, the St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee, the American Red Cross Gallon Club, and the Bacon Park Seniors Golf Blitz. He was a faithful communicant of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Eleanor Griffin Ciucevich; daughters, Lynn Ciucevich Wade Hugh of Decatur, GA, and Mary Ann Griffin Blount Denmark of Roswell, GA.; granddaughters, Nora Elizabeth Wade and Jennifer L. Blount Smith Trey; a sister, Julianna C. Paige and brothers, Joseph and David Ciucevich Helen all of Savannah, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 29th, at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel with a Vigil Service at 6:00 pm.
Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, January 30th, at 1:30 pm, at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.
Burial: Bonaventure Cemetery.

Mrs. Ciucevich, I spoke with you the other night. I just wanted to tell you again how much you and Mr. Ciucevich meant to my life. In life their are only a few people that really affects your life. Dear Aunt Nora, I heard from my brother Ed on Tuesday about Uncle Eddie's passing. He was/is such a warm, wonderful person- a great man who lived such a beautiful life full of happiness and joy! I can still see his happy, beaming face and remember the way he made us all feel. The C's are gonna have an even greater party upstairs now!: My condolences are with you, Lynn, and Mary Ann.
