Rebecca Meeker O'Berry
August 11, 1941 - January 26, 2009
Savannah- Mrs. Rebecca Meeker O'Berry, 67, died Monday, January 26, 2009 at Hospice Savannah after a long illness.
Mrs. O'Berry was a native of Savannah and worked as a paraprofessional with the Chatham County Board of Education for 12 years. She was an avid shopper and loved the Christmas holiday season. Her greatest strength was her faith in Jesus Christ where she devoted her time as a V.B.S. coordinator and Sunday school teacher. She was a long standing member of Islands Christian Church. She also dedicated many hours to the March of Dimes and Muscular Dystrophy Association. Her son, Reid Boykin, parents, Alvin & Irma Meeker and sister, Cindy Meeker preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Bruce O'Berry; sons, Eddie Boykin, Clay Boykin and his wife Debbie, and Allen O'Berry and his wife Heather, all of Savannah; daughter, Amy Thomas and her husband Ben of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Justin Boykin, Rachel Boykin, Taylor O'Berry and Tori O'Berry of Savannah and Abigail Thomas and William Thomas of Dallas, TX; sister Pat Smith of Ocala, Fl and brother, Vic Meeker.
Visitation: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at the Islands Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 29, 2009 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel with John LaMaison officiating.
Burial: Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
