Iside "Syd" Garbi Paolucci, 98, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2009. Born October 9, 1910 in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Giovanni and Domenica Mori Garbi of Sesta Superiore, Parma, Italy, and reportedly Savannah's oldest living Italian. A devoted wife and mother, Syd was preceded in death by her husband of over fifty years, Michael J. Paolucci. She is survived by two sons, Peter Paolucci and his wife Barbara of Savannah, Georgia, and Eugene Paolucci and his wife Fran of Waldwick, New Jersey, five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on February 14, 2009, at 10 AM at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist.

The family would like to thank the staff of Savannah Square HealthCare Center for their kindness and care.

Interment will be at a later date in Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston, Texas.

Dear Peter and Barbara.....we've just returned from Portugal and in reading last week's newspapers learned of your dear mother's passing. How wonderful to have lived for 98 years! She was a beautiful woman. I know you will miss her but hopefully, the memories you have of her will keep her spirit alive in your hearts forever.
