Joe Earl McAllister, Sr.
Savannah, - Joe McAllister, 81, died February 12, 2009 at his residence. He was born in Mt. Vernon, Georgia and lived in Savannah most of his life. He was United States Army Veteran serving during World War II. Joe was Superintendent of Metal Equipment Company for twenty years and after leaving Metal Equipment, he operated a machine and fabrication shop in Garden City for seventeen years, from which he retired in 1988. After retirement, Joe served as President of Talahi Lake Association for several years. He was a member of Wilmington Island United Methodist Church, Friendship Sunday School Class and the Hardee's Rangers.
Surviving are his wife, Florence McAllister of Savannah; three sons and daughters-in-law, Joe Jr. and Patsy McAllister; Micky and Maggie McAllister; Ricky and Rita McAllister all of Savannah; four grandchildren, Steven McAllister, Alan McAllister, Amanda McAllister, J.T. McAllister all of Savannah; brother, Homer McAllister of Thomasville, GA; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 13, 2009 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.
Funeral: 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 14, 2009 in the Islands Chapel of Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors.
Entombment: Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum.

So sorry that John and I could not be there for the funeral. Mother told me the service was Friday at 1pm. I thought that was too soon, but hurried up and sent flowers. Mother has a terrible cold, so she wouldn't have been able to come anyway. I have wondreful memories of you and Joe from childhood and also the time Joe drove me all over Savannah to find an apartment when John was in flight school!He's in the presence of many Saints now.
