Frank J. Canzanella, Sr.

Frank J. Canzanella, Sr., 82, died Saturday February 21, 2009 under the care of Hospice Savannah Inc.

Frank was born on September 28, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY, one of fourteen children to the late Anthony and Catherine Canzanella. He also lived in New Jersey and Florida before settling in Savannah in 2005. He served his country during WWII as a Navy gunner on a Merchant Marine ship. He retired in 1988 from the Carpenter's Union where he was a construction superintendent. In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Sidney Canzanella and his son, Gary Canzanella.

He is survived by four children, Barbara Canzanella Gonzalez of Hasbrouck Heights, NJ, Frank Canzanella, Jr. of Brooklyn, NY, Agnes Ciros of Pompton Lakes, NJ, and Jennifer Bock of Savannah; one brother, Robert Canzanella of Brooklyn, NY; one sister, Margaret Goeller of Tom's River, NJ; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday February 22, 2009 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Islands Chapel.
