Celebrating the life of
Robert G. Groover
July 16, 1927 - February 25, 2009
Savannah- Mr. Robert G. Groover, 81, died Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at Memorial University Medical Center.
The Bulloch County native served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII and for many years in the Coast Guard Reserves and National Guard. He was a Trainman with CSX Railroad for 42 years and a longtime member of Bible Baptist Church. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. His grandchildren were the apple of his eye.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Sue Groover of Savannah; five children, Robin Groover of Hinesville, Philip Jamie Groover of Hinesville, Eddie Debra Maddox of Bloomingdale, Alan Kathy Maddox and Donna Doug Sikes of Savannah; five grandchildren, LeeAnn, James, Julie, Jonathan, Doug and one great-grandson, Carter; two sisters, Ethlyn Gregory of Dundalk, MD, Martha Gupton of Pylesville, MD and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, March 1, 2009 at the Islands Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 2 at Fox & Weeks, Islands Chapel with Rev. Dr. Herbert F. Hubbard officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park.
