James Joseph Hunter, III, 73 died Sunday March 1, 2009 at Orange Park Medical Center. He was born June 2, 1935 to James J. and Elizabeth M. Hunter. He was a graduate of Power Memorial High School, Fordham University and Adelphi University. He previously lived in Islandia, New York and was also a resident of Vero Beach, Florida. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1955 until 1957. He was retired from Grumman Data Systems in Bethpage, New York and was a member of the Grumman Retiree Association, Treasure Coast Chapter, Florida

He was preceded in death by his parents, James J. Hunter, Jr., and Elizabeth M. Fitzpatrick Hunter.

He is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law; James J. and Elaine Hunter, of Lynbrook, N.Y., Robert E. and Patricia Hunter, of Orange Park, FL., Brian C. and Pamela Hunter, of East Moriches, NY, and Mark T. and Lisa Hunter, of Islandia, NY. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Jack, Melissa, Patrick, Brian, Nicholas, Cole, Mark, Timothy, and one great-granddaughter, Emily.

Visitation will be Monday, March 9, 2009 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel with a Rosary service at 6:00 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with The Reverend Jeremiah J. McCarthy, celebrant.

Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery.
