Elsie Williams Schwarz, 88 died Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at Hospice Savannah. She was a native of Bryan County and lifelong resident of Savannah. Mrs. Schwarz was a member of the Soroptimist Club, the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary and the Savannah Golf Club. She was also a member of the Savannah Business and Professional Women's Organization, the Moose Lodge Loyal Order Ladies Auxiliary and the Elks Lodge Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Schwarz was of the Catholic faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George F. Schwarz, Sr. and her daughter, Rose Marie Schwarz.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, G. Fred and Patricia Schwarz, of Savannah; three grandsons, George Schwarz, III and his wife, Sherrie, of Savannah; Michael C. Schwarz and his wife, Dabney, of Savannah; and Robert C. Schwarz, of Ashville, N.C.; and one granddaughter, Sandra S. Aiken and her husband, Cliff, of Loganville, GA. She is also survived by two step-granddaughters, Judith Evans, of Savannah and Nanette Wall and her husband, Dennis, of Dacula, GA, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 12, 2009 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 13, 2009 at Bonaventure Cemetery with the Rev. Patrick O'Brien officiating.
