Doris Juanita Rolison Francis
March 24, 1935 - March 27, 2009
Doris Juanita Rolison Francis, 74, went to be with her Lord on Friday, March 27, 2009 after a long struggle with cancer.
Mrs. Francis began working with the Weis theater chain while attending Commercial High School. Upon graduation in 1954 she began a long and successful career in the banking industry. Once she realized she enjoyed traveling she became a travel agent and for many years she enjoyed helping others with their travel itineraries. From London's, Buckingham Palace to Honolulu's, The Royal Hawaiian Pink Hotel she would often visit exotic locales so she could inform her customers of what to expect when they booked their travel arrangements with her. In addition to her career in 1964 she began a two decade affair with the Army life when she married SGM Joseph H. Francis. Three years after his death she returned to Savannah in 1987. Mrs. Francis believed in giving back to the community by supporting many charities particularly ones pertaining to children. She was a supporter for St. Jude Children's Hospital for many years. Mrs. Francis was a member of Windsor Forest Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph H. Francis; her mother, Mattie Duffield Rolison and father, H. Dan Rolison who was killed in the line-of-duty on September 25, 1960.
