Brenda Kathryn Heyward Hershey

Savannah- Brenda Kathryn Heyward Hershey died March 27, 2009 at Hospice Savannah.

Brenda was born November 20, 1950 in Savannah, and grew up in Bluffton, South Carolina and Savannah. She graduated from Windsor Forest High School in 1968 and attended Valdosta State College. For over twenty years Brenda was employed in Savannah's hotel and convention industry, as sales director of the Hilton Savannah DeSoto and general manager of the Weston Hotel on West Oglethorpe Avenue.

Brenda and her husband David enjoyed traveling up and down the Eastern seacoast in their boat, "Vamoose," accompanied by her beloved dogs Nickie and Yoshie. Brenda was a gifted gardener and enjoyed reading, cooking, needlework, and entertaining. Brenda was preceded in death by her father, Harry Guerard Heyward.

Survivors include her husband, David Hershey, Sr.; mother, Kathryn Byrd Heyward; son, Matthew Gunn and fiancée Jessica Halsak; daughter, Heyward Gunn Kreutzer and husband Justin; sister, Ginger Heyward Thompson; brother, Henry Guerard Heyward and wife, Charlene; granddaughter, Ava Kreutzer; nieces, Amanda Thompson and Lauren Heyward; nephew, Justin Heyward; step-children, Peter Hershey, Sr., David Hershey, Jr. and wife Sharon, Susan Hershey Smith and husband Lee; Step-grandchildren: Peter "McCord" Hershey, Jr., Bridget Hershey, Ted Hershey, and Meghan Smith. Brenda is also survived by her dear friends Ann and Downer Davis.

Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 30, 2009 at the Islands Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park.
