MARJORIE POWERS SMITH

Margie died on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Hospice House of Savannah from complication following surgery. She is survived by her son, Andrew Smith, daughter-in-law, Mary Beth and their 4 children, Kaeli, Megan, Keegan and Casey of Annapolis, Maryland; her daughter, Stephanie Smith Rice, son-in-law, Doug and their 3 children, Henry Kyd, Rennie and Paige of Annapolis, Maryland and her brother, Jim Powers and sister-in-law, Nancy, of Lutherville, Maryland.
She was predeceased by her parents, John and Verna Powers of Baltimore, Maryland.

Margie was born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1937 and moved to Baltimore in 1940. She graduated from Towson High School in 1955 and Beaver College now Arcadia University in 1959, where she was President of the Student Body her senior year and captain of the field hockey team. After graduation Margie taught biology at Friends School of Baltimore. She later attended Maryland Institute College of Art where she obtained a degree in Interior Design and in 1987 formed Powers Smith Limited in Annapolis, Maryland, a design firm now owned and managed by her son. She retired to the Landings in Savannah in 2003 where she was involved with St. Peter's Episcopal Church and has enjoyed bridge and extensive traveling.

Memorial Service plans are still to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be given to Hospice House of Savannah, 1352 Eisenhower Drive, Savannah, GA. 31406-3902
