ANNIE LAURA SIMMONS
Annie Laura Simmons, 88 died April 25, 2009 at Candler Hospital after a brief illness.
She was born in Savannah, Georgia and was the daughter of the late Eddie L. Brown and Minnie Brown.
She attended and graduated from Savannah Chatham County Public Schools. She was a lifelong member of Bull Street Baptist Church. She was a member of the Pilot Sunday School Class and has served on many committees at church through the years with the Flower Share Committee being the most recent.
She was an active member of the Exchangettes Club of Savannah. She retired from the Savannah Chatham County Public Schools in June 1981.
She was preceded in death by her husband Hebert Benjamin Simmons, Jr. and two sisters, Rose Deloach and Jean Scott.
She is survived by a daughter, Gail S. James; son-in-law, Donald L. James Jr.; grandsons, Lee James and his wife Gena, and Ryan James and his wife Erin; great grandsons, Davis James and Branson James; sister, Mrs. Dorothy Snelling and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 27, 2009 at Bull Street Baptist Church.
Funeral Services will be immediately after the visitation at 2:00 p.m. at Bull Street Baptist Church with Reverend Earnie Pirkle, Reverend Calvin Fowler and Reverend William Gardner officiating.
Burial will be the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
Remembrances, in lieu of flowers, may be sent to Bull Street Baptist Church, 17 East Anderson Street, Savannah, GA 31406.
