Mary Elizabeth Wheeler James, 96, died Friday, May 1, 2009 at Savannah Square. She was a native and lifelong resident of Savannah. She was a Lifetime member of The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Ascension and was an avid Bridge player.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert James, Jr. and her
brother, Harrold B. Wheeler, Sr.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Geraldine F. Wheeler, of Guyton, two nieces, Lorraine Wheeler Kelly, and her husband, Coy, of Rincon, and Jane W. Shuman and her husband, Jimmy, of Savannah, two nephews, Harrold Bernard Wheeler, Jr., and his wife, Kristy, of Guyton, and Jack Andrew Wheeler, of Savannah. She is also survived by several great-nieces and nephews, including her special great-niece, Victoria McNamee, and her husband, Joe, of Guyton.
Visitation will be 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, May 3, 2009 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, May 4, 2009 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Burial will be in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park.
