Lillian Chovin Elkins
August 20, 1908 - May 13, 2009
Lillian Chovin Elkins, who observed her 100th birthday eight months ago, passed away in her sleep Wednesday May 13 at Azalealand Nursing Home in Savannah, Ga. She was predeceased by her husband of almost 50 years, Ward H. Elkins in 1983 and by her son, Jack H. Elkins in 1988.
A long-time member of Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church, Mrs. Elkins will always be remembered as having a strong love of family. She was born on August 20, 1908. Mrs. Elkins was also predeceased by her sisters, Alma C. Hicks and Stella C. Hunter, and brothers H. Preston Futrell and Robert I. Futrell, all of whom spent many years in Savannah.
Survivors include a step-son, Kertis Elkins, nieces Joyce Coleman and Nora Futrell, and a large number of third and fourth generation family members.
Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel is in charge of funeral arrangements. On Saturday, May 16 there will be an hour of visitation at the funeral home from 10 a.m. till 11 a.m., with graveside services to follow at Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park at 12 p.m.
Remembrances to Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church building fund would be appropriate.
