SAVANNAH – Carrie McDowell Cruit, 84, PASSED AWAY AT St. Joseph's Hospital June 14, 2009.
She was born and grew up in Conway, South Carolina and moved to Savannah in 1964. She was a devoted wife and mother. Carrie had a wonderful gift of growing plants and flowers in her garden
She is survived by her husband of sixty-six years, LT/Col. Harold E. Cruit, USAF Ret., daughter, Barbara Cruit Kellem PHD, BFA, son, Michael H. Cruit, grandsons, Brandon E. Cruit and Bryan Hunter Sutton, and daughter-in-law, Deidre L. Cruit, M.Ed.
Funeral Services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, Remembrances may be made to All Saints Orthodox Church, 540 Buck Jones Rd., Raleigh, NC 27606.

Mom helped me financially through my baccalaureate, master's, and doctoral programs. She was strongly supportive of my artistic career BFA, study in Florence, Italy. She took care of me when I recovered from two major surgeries even though I lived half-way across the country. My mother helped me make it through the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Mom helped me purchase my home. I will miss talking to her.
