Doris Paxton Scott

Savannah - Doris Paxton Scott, 83, died June 16, 2009 at her residence. Mrs. Scott was retired from Chatham County after a long career as Deputy Chief of the Delinquent Tax Office. She was a longtime member of the Women of the Moose Lodge No. 1550. She was a loving mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend who was known to always be there when someone needed her. Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald H. "Scotty" Scott; mother and father, Ebbie N. Paxton and Lula Paxton Douglas; sisters, Margaret Billac and Estelle Paxton; brothers, Ebbie Paxton, Lee Paxton and George Paxton; step-brothers, G. Willard Douglas and John R. Douglas.
Surviving are her daughter, Deborah T. Chapman David of Savannah; son, Ebbie R. Thigpen Susan of Daphne, AL; grandchildren, Arthur Davis of Rincon; Lori Thigpen of Birmingham, AL; Allison Thigpen of Las Vegas, NV; Todd Thigpen of Daphne, AL; sisters, Mary Meyers of Savannah; Theresa Rogers of Pleasant Grove, AL; step-sister, Jeanette Blackwelder, of Pooler, GA; step-children, Jo Blackwood of Fayetteville, NC; Susan Johnson Jerry of Raeford, NC; Judy Lee Gary of Aragon, GA; AnnMarie Blackman Sandy of Dahlonega, GA; Janet Reeves of Ellabell, GA; Donald Scott Brenda of Winter Springs, FL; numerous nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation: 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Funeral: 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 18, 2009 in the Hodgson Chapel of Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors.
Burial: Bonaventure Cemetery.
