Rita Reeves Pond, 96, died Monday, June 29, 2009 at Summer Breeze under the care of Hospice Savannah. Mrs. Pond was a longtime member of Thunderbolt Baptist Church where she was President of her Sunday School Class, a member the Whitemarsh Island Garden Club and past president of the Floralia Arrangers Study Club. She was also a member of the East Georgia Council Accredited Flower Show and a Master Garden Club of Georgia Flower Show Judge. She was also a member of the Georgia Association of Landscape Design Appraisers, the Georgia Association of Gardening Consultants of the National Council of State Garden Clubs and the Savannah Area Council of Garden Clubs and board member of the Oleander District of the Garden Club of GA Inc. She also served on the Board for the Garden Club of Georgia, the Chatham County Homemakers Club and was a past president of the Whitemarsh Island Club and past president of the Chatham County Garden Club Council.

Mrs. Pond was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert L. Pond.

She is survived by her longtime friend, Sylvia Shealy and her family, Dan, Chris, Cathy, and Caroline.

The family would like to thank all of her caregivers, especially Diane Williams and Jackie Lee for their many hours of dedication and love shown to Mrs. Pond.

Funeral Service will be 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at the Islands Chapel of Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors with Visitation from 2:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Burial will be in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park.
