TYBEE ISLAND - Arnold Lamar Bragg, age 87, died on 1 July 2009, at his residence on Tybee Island.
Arnold was born on 22 July 1921 in Screven County. He was the son of Ora Carson Bragg and Ruby McDougal Bragg. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, and retired from Union Camp Corp after 38 years.
Arnold was a resident of Chatham County for 65 years, the last 40 on Tybee Island. He was a member of Chapel by the Sea Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sadie Long Bragg, and four children; Arnoldine Whitmore of Tybee Island, Armelia Snyder of Colorado Springs, CO, Curtis of Wilmington Island, and Randall of Cleveland, GA. His youngest son Wendell preceded him in death. Arnold and Sadie have 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Monday, 6 July 2009, at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., followed by a graveside service in Hillcrest Abbey at 10:30 a.m.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, remembrances be made to Chapel by the Sea Baptist Church, P.O. Box 235, Tybee Island, GA 31328 or Hospice Savannah, P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416.
Dear Miss Sadie & family, We were so sorry to hear of Mr. Arnold's death. We were travelling last week and unable to be here for his visitation & service. We are praying for you and your family as you grieve the loss of your dear husband and father. He was a great man and we know he had a warm welcome into heaven.
