Sena Arnold Wright

Sena Arnold Wright

Savannah- Sena Arnold Wright died peacefully in her home on August 13, one week short of her eighty-second birthday.
She was the only child of U. S. Army Brigadier General Calvert Hinton Arnold and Sena Bostwick, both of southern Georgia. The Arnolds traveled extensively, but retired to the Isle of Hope, Savannah. Sena graduated from Pape School in 1944 and attended Hollins College where she studied art history.
Sena is survived by her husband, Walter Whittier Wright of Atlanta, whom she married in 1948. They made their home in Atlanta for 52 years. She was active in the Junior League, primarily as a participant in Children's Theater. She also volunteered at the bookstore of The Cathedral of St. Philip as the buyer of crosses.
For the last ten years of her life, she and Whittier settled in Savannah on the water facing Wassau Sound, where she daily enjoyed watching the sun rise over the marsh and the visits of egrets. Her life was a stream of celebrations for her children and grandchildren, whom she would honor throughout the calendar with gaily wrapped presents and buoyant cards. She will be remembered by her family for her recollections of the lyrics of the songs from the Big Band Era to the latest country-western tunes, which she frequently sang first thing in the mornings. She always kept fresh flowers in her house and was well-known for her hospitality, which included a propensity to provide a haven for small animals.
She is also survived by her daughter, Madeline Kytle of St. Simon's Island, Georgia; daughter and son in law, Louellen and Tim Murray of Lake Forest, Illinois; son and daughter in law, Whittier and Erin Wright of Jasper, Georgia; and by six grandchildren.
She was a member of Saint John's Church, Savannah. Funeral services from the Book of Common Prayer, 1928, will be held at the family home at Tate Mountain Estates on Saturday, September 19th, at 3:00 p.m.
Memorial gifts may be made to Good Samaritan Health and Wellness Center of Jasper, Georgia www.goodsamhwc.org.
