Brandon Reid Kilroy
March 19, 1922 - September 22, 2009
Brandon Reid Kilroy, 87, died Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at his residence. The native and lifelong resident of Savannah was a 1940 graduate of Benedictine Military School and a graduate of the University of Georgia. Mr. Kilroy was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church. He was a United States Army Veteran serving in World War II in the European Theatre. He received several medals while serving his country, including the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, 1 Silver Star, 1 Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal and the Distinguished Unit Badge with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, and the American Defense Service Medal.
He was a member of the Toastmasters Club, the Kiwanis Club, the Knights of Columbus, and the Benedictine Survivors Club. He was a boxer with the Irish Jasper Greens.
He is survived by his wife; Margaret Howarth Kilroy of Savannah; two daughters, Dodie Simmons of Savannah and Marty Kilroy of Cartersville.
He is also survived by five grandchildren: Patrick Simmons, Carolyn Hinely and her husband, Josh, Brandon Simmons and his wife, Kim, Megan Simmons, Stephanie McKeever and her husband Scott, three great-grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild on the way.
Visitation: 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 25, 2009 with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m., at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Funeral: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 26, 2009 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Burial: Bonaventure Cemetery with Military Honors.
Remembrances: Benedictine Military School.
