Laurine C. Witmer
SAVANNAH - Laurine C. Witmer went to her heavenly home Sunday, January 10, 2010. She died after a long illness with Alzheimer's.
She was born November 29, 1920 outside of Metter, Georgia and attended Milledgeville College for Women where she received her Home Economics degree.
She and her husband were charter members of the Windsor Forest Baptist Church. Rene was a member of several women's clubs in the church and was active in her community.
She was the owner of TWIN BLUFF TRAILER SALES, the business that she and her late husband began. After her husband died, she moved to Metter, Georgia. It didn't take her long to find the Metter First Baptist Church where she became very active. She loved Metter, the little town "Where everything's better in Metter". She was in the Kiwanis Club, and other organizations. She did much for the community of Metter which she loved so much.
She moved to Florida to live close to her only daughter, Becky. She had lived in Sun City for several years and was active in the First Baptist Church.
Her daughter Becky is the only survivor.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 15, 2010, at Windsor Forest Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 pm.
Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
So sorry for the loss of your mother. I worked with her a number of years ago in Metter when she was active in the Candler Co. Historical Society. She always was so sweet to me when I'd come to meet with the group in my capacity as regional historic preservation planner. Her beautiful smile and gracious manner always made me feel so welcome. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Robin Brown Nail
