Georgia Davis Roux
March 18, 1912 - January 21, 2010
Georgia Dale Davis Roux, 97, died Thursday, January 21, 2010 at Hospice Savannah. The Savannah native was born, March 8, 1912 and was the daughter of the late Fredrick A. Davis and Alma Lita Lindsay Davis. She was preceded in death by her husband, H. Remshart Roux. She attended Mary Baldwin College and was involved in many philanthropic organizations to include the Junior League of Savannah and the Children's Theatre. She was a member of Independent Presbyterian Church, the Civil Air Patrol, where she was an airplane spotter and her call number was "Ruby 16" and was a volunteer with the Savannah Neonatal Clinic.
Mrs. Roux was a member of the Savannah Golf Club, Club, a charter member of the Savannah Yacht Club, and the Shark Fishing Club.
She and her husband were the founders of Savannah Tire and Rubber Co. She was an all around sportswoman, enjoying her time on the water and in her garden and also loved to sing and dance.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Georiga Roux Chapple and Arthur Chapple, of Savannah, her son and daughter-in-law, Lindsay R. Roux and Anne Roux, of Raleigh, NC, and her sister, Allison Davis Sullivan, of Savannah. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Darsie McClesky and her husband Tom, of Fuquay Varina, NC, Lindsay Fluke and her husband Douglas, of Atlanta, Arthur Mason Chapple, Jr., of Buenas Aires, Argentina, Katherine Adams and her husband Jeremy, of Raleigh, NC, her great-grandchildren, Isabella and Mercer McClesky, Elizabeth R. Adams, and Madeleine Fluke and special nieces and nephews, Jack Sullivan, Virginia Sullivan Ray, Alice Shaber, Mary-Anne Westley, Bob, Brian, and Rembert Roux, Sandy Wells, Alan Jordan, Martha Forrester, and Gus Oemler.
Graveside Service: 3:00 p.m., Monday, January 25, 2010 at the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
