Elinor Hoy Clark

Tybee Island- Elinor Hoy Clark, 85, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, January 31, 2010 after a long illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mallie B. Clark, Sr.; daughter, Janis Lynn Clark; father, Marion Francis Hoy; mother, Althea Walker Hoy-Jose, and step-father, Justo M. Jose.

She was born in Savannah and moved to Tybee Island in 1944. Mrs. Clark was a charter member of Chapel by the Sea Baptist Church, very active in the Girls Auxiliary, served in numerous Sunday school and Vacation Bible School teaching roles and as the Church Treasurer. She was a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts of America, an honor bestowed upon her after serving as Scout Mother for two generations of Tybee girls and was a long standing member of the Tybee Garden Club. She was a wonderful mother, an important contributor to the Tybee community and will be dearly missed by many.

Survivors include two sisters, Frances Phillips of College Grove, TN, Kathryn Welsh of Taneytown, MD; daughters, Cheryl Solomon of Miami, FL, Donna Piper, Larry, of Tybee Island; son, Mallie B. Clark, Jr. Diane, of Tybee Island; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at the Islands Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors.

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at Chapel by the Sea Baptist Church.

Burial: Bonaventure Cemetery.

Remembrances may be made to Chapel by the Sea Baptist Church, Children's Ministries, P.O. Box 235, Tybee Island, GA 31328.
